The resolution of my work exists largely in relation to the notions of space, spatial relationships, aesthetics and the concept of the unbound (in terms of the consideration of space and one’s positioning within leading to a sensory release as well as the negative within architectural spaces). Architecture provides me with a tremendous range of aesthetic and theoretic ‘fodder’ and I have such a fascination for its many facets and its functioning as an important mechanism within my work. What I intend to pursue, extending from my processes this year, is the demarcation of space and the illumination of existing structure and architecture. I feel that this is coexistent with the notions of bodily perception within space, and so the two demand analogous exploration. In this, my interests in the Minimalist notions of the possibilities of perception and relation to space are paramount in defining my avenues of inquiry. In the application and appropriation of space, I intend to pursue a materialisation of the unbound and explore the tension between perception and reality. I see this as a consequence of the physicality of the materials and supports as well as through the literal concepts of drawing and its scope of methodologies.
